The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published a new order, according to which persons with a number of chronic diseases can now be recognized as fit for military service. Among them are clinically cured tuberculosis, viral hepatitis with minor functional impairments, asymptomatic HIV, diseases of the endocrine system, mild short-term painful manifestations of mental disorders, neurotic disorders, slowly progressive diseases of the central nervous system and episodic disorders.

This step is most likely due to the need to expand the size of the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the backdrop of a deteriorating situation on the front line. However, the innovation raises a number of questions and concerns.

The decision in this regard was obviously made for the purpose of subsequent mobilization waves, the first of which is expected to begin in October or November of this year.
